Anderson Lewis

I can not help but confess to self destruction. There is a part of me that wants to take the world apart piece by piece, to see how it works and why. In my art, I reflect on these pieces that make up the interactions between people. It is how someone can be affected by the world around them in such ways that it can alter decisions or create habits that strikes a lasting curiosity in me.

I have seen that everything plays a part and nothing is left out. All the elements of our environment, all the seemingly random people, familiar streets or patient commutes, they are all integrated. I visualize the world around us as something that reflects our own emotions and desires, as if the they too had something to say about being there. I enjoy using what elements the world has to offer to express my experiences of a daily life in a city surrounding.

Using painting, drawing or sculpting, I devise my own theories about what I see. All my works start from the experience of a single person but quickly become much more. Patterns start to form in the way I see others and before long motive, action and emotion are strung along on a more social context, This is the foundation of my art. Sometimes it seems as if creating art is the logical step to understanding everything around me.
